how to care for your bag

Your citymouse® bag goes everywhere you go — the playground, the subway, the snack spill zone. A little care keeps it looking good for the long haul. Here's how.

The golden rules (every bag)

  • Hand wash is always best. Cool water and a mild soap or gentle detergent.
  • Lay flat to dry. No dryer, no radiator, no hanging by the strap.
  • No bleach. Ever. It fades colors and weakens fabric.
  • Empty it first. Take everything out of every pocket (yes, even the one with the mystery cracker) and remove the strap.

Classic Crossbody

Canvas exterior, nylon interior, metal hardware

  • Hand wash only. Please don't put the Classic in the washing machine.
  • Spot clean small marks with a damp cloth and a drop of mild soap. For a deeper clean, hand wash in cool water and gently work the soap into the canvas.
  • Protect the hardware. The metal hardware on the Classic can tarnish if it stays wet. Avoid soaking it, and wipe it completely dry with a soft cloth right after washing.
  • Lay flat to dry, reshaping the bag while it's damp.

Park Crossbody

Ripstop nylon

  • Hand wash preferred. Most everyday messes wipe right off with a damp cloth.
  • If it really needs it, a gentle cycle in cold water is okay. Use a mesh laundry bag and remove the strap first.
  • Lay flat to dry.

Cargo Crossbody

Nylon

  • Hand wash preferred. Wipe spills with a damp cloth as they happen.
  • If necessary, a gentle cycle in cold water is okay. Use a mesh laundry bag and remove the strap first.
  • Lay flat to dry.

Straps

  • Hand wash in cool water with mild soap, then lay flat to dry.
  • Keep the metal clips as dry as possible and wipe them off after washing.

Changing sheet

  • Machine washable. Cold, gentle cycle, then lay flat or hang to dry.

Clip pouches and packing cubes

  • Spot clean or hand wash in cool water with mild soap, then lay flat to dry.

Everyday tips

  • Deal with spills (milk, juice, the rest) quickly. Fresh messes come out much easier.
  • Let your bag dry completely before packing it back up.
  • Store it somewhere dry, and give it an air-out every so often.
